FAMILLE RAILWORKS:
Connecting downtown Baltimore to the suburbs northwest of the city and terminating in Owings Mills, Md., the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Metro SubwayLink runs approximately 15 miles and sees an annual ridership of nearly 13 million.
During a four-week timeframe, RailWorks Track Services rehabilitated numerous portions of the line, accomplishing a wide range of work in short windows. The crews completed repairs on direct fixation tunnels, ballasted track, open deck bridges and direct fixation bridges.
The project scope included concrete and timber tie replacement, ballast resurfacing and replacement, fastener rehabilitation, plinth and concrete repair, running rail replacement, track destressing and track and rail resistance testing. The project was completed on time and within budget.
